The G Codes

I'm a G9 - how about you? If you're a descendant of Gerhard Heinrich Vondemfange, the G numbers represent the number of grandchildren he had that also had descendants. My grandfather Jess Von Fange happens to be the 9th grandchild with descendants which is why he's identified as G9, as are all his descendants. It's just a short-hand way of putting us all in categories that help a bit to relate one another's origins to our own ancestors.

What about Gerhard's brothers and sisters and ancestors and their descendants? Well, that's part of the ongoing work - to identify them and how we all fit into one ever-growing family. For now, we present the family groupings we know about which are placed into 3 categories: those in Germany, those in Holland from Ueffeln (presumably) and those in America from Ueffeln. Note there are 7 branches in America alone; most of us originate from one of those - Gerhard, but we're looking for the rest!
